      My home setup is overkill AF. If I wasn’t making UA-cam videos I doubt I’d have so much stuff. I think a udm pro se would be more than enough to get by itherwise

      @@SPXLabs totally understand man. I think it’s more about wants than needs if you work in IT. If adding a single UDM Pro SE doesn’t add too much extra heat, I may go that route. I feel like if go the route I want, I’d get the pro and run cable through the attic and install AP’s, install vents, etc. My wife will kill me lol. I think my attic is mostly spray foam. I’d have to see how difficult it might be. Otherwise, I’ll start small and just have the ultra and an AP sitting in my closet. My rack project recently started like one of your older projects, the one where you tried to setup your gaming PC on the server rack. If I recall you said something about the performance dip the longer the DP cable goes. My recent goal was trying to get my work laptop out of site and running a KVM from the closet to my super ultra-wide. That and re-working my servers with unRAID.

    I only give this case a 6/10. Added a custom printed TPE drive sleeve to solve the rattling. Btw, killed 3 in 3 months, Seagate toasted my warranty on my remaining 7 drives. Even with 10 drives, you will struggle to saturate a 10 G connection. The issue is you can't plug a SAS Drive into the front. I didn't buy with intention for that but wanted to let others know. It's a great budget case, but its not perfect. That said, the fact you can do 10 drives and a 360 AIO is amazing. They need to add rubber grommets and an optional SAS backplane to be the end all be it all for a 4U AIO 10 drives in a server case.

    Sad. You merely put a module that can handle XGMII in your UDM, which, by the way, is a pretty horrendous appliance to start with, Ubiquiti stopped being a reputable company in this space when they abandoned their edgerouter product line, which was one of the best back then. You were literally limiting your speed yourself to start with, you didn't "unlock" anything here. Cute though. Also love the Ubiquiti shirt, I guess you need all the help you can get to give yourself some semblance of authority on a topic you do not master at all.

    You don’t need to connect with ethernet if you already have wifi through your router btw, just turned my whole house upside down looking for my adapter just for me to not need it. Worst thing is I didn’t even find it…

    So how many clients can hold this TP-Link Omada?

      Not sure if you mean hardware clients, users, or concurrent sessions or something of the like. So here is a link to the product page that should have the answer you are looking for. www.tp-link.com/us/business-networking/omada-router-wired-router/er8411/

    The need a router and WiFi 7. I have UNIFI 6 devices and waiting for the can(u6mesh) to come out with wifi 7 versions to update. I have had my eyes on the Alta labs devices for a while but their stack is incomplete. Router is essential with dual wan. I work in IT and a full stack is very welcome

    • @SPXLabs
      @SPXLabs 11 днів тому

      I can only assume that they will be making that stuff in the future or so I hope anyway. On the plus side for homelabbers folks can use opensense and not have to worry about out losing features if they don’t use an Alta labs router. For now anyway.

    Older video, but I am ordering these. I had to do some work inside my Rosewill - should have been a quick bit of work, but had to remove it from my rack (heavy), etc. Why did I wait so long to order these? Smacks forehead.

      @@SPXLabs I finally got my rail kit in and now have my Rosewill case sliding. I had some issues getting the case and rails lined up, but got it. I also replaced some drive bays with hot-swappable ones. Massive upgrades tonight. Kind of funny though - the CPU is an i2700k and I think it has 24 gb of ram. It runs unRaid and backs up another unRaid server I have (just some of the folders). I've watched a few videos from Jeff with X99 mobos...might just be time to upgrade my old 2700k. (Think I bought the mobo, cpu and ram from FB Marketplace for $50 a few years back - gets the job done for now).
